    Chip In Glass VFD Modules
    Futaba’s most popular Character Modules are referred to as the LCD Emulators since they were designed to allow easy conversion from hard-to-read LCDs to vibrant Vacuum Fluorescent Displays (VFDs). These VFD modules offer improved viewing angles, readability, and temperature ranges over their LCD counterparts. They consist of a DC-DC converter, a multi-character by multi-line display in 5 x 8 dot matrix format, and integrated controller/driver circuitry using Chip In Glass (CIG) technology to reduce IC count on the PCB. These modules have a dual-port RAM that allows data and instructions to be sent to them continuously. A character generator ROM with 240 5 x 8 characters is provided along with the RAM for the user to program an additional 8 characters.
